Admissions Consultation for 2022/23 and 2023/24

Hope Community School Sidcup - Admissions Consultation

What is this consultation about?

We want to know what you think about the following:

  1. Variation to the admission arrangements for Hope Community School, Sidcup in Kent for the academic year starting in September 2022 and finishing in July 2023.

The arrangements will be changed to be compliant with the DfE’s School Admissions Code September 2021.

This change expands the definition of previously looked after children to include those children who were in state care outside of England but who were then adopted.

State care outside of England is further defined as being in the care of or were accommodated by a public authority, a religious organisation, or any other provider of care whose sole or main purpose is to benefit society.

  1. Admission arrangements for Hope Community School, Sidcup in Kent for the academic year starting in September 2023 and finishing in July 2024.

The admission arrangements outline:

How New Generation Schools Trust (the admission authority) will manage applications for the Reception intake at Hope Community School, Sidcup in September 2023;

The admission numbers for schools in Hope Community School (i.e. how many places the school will offer), and;

How the school decides which pupils obtain priority for places at the school (the “oversubscription criteria”).

The arrangements for In-year admissions

Details of the proposed variation to the 2022/23 admission arrangements and the 2023/24 admission arrangements are attached below for your information.

  1. Parents of children between the ages of two and eighteen;
  2. Other persons in the relevant area who in the opinion of the admission authority have an interest in the proposed admissions;
  3. All other admission authorities within the relevant area (except that primary schools need not consult secondary schools);
  4. The local authority (London Borough of Bexley)
  5. Any adjoining neighbouring local authorities where the admission authority is the local authority (London Borough of Bromley, the Royal London Borough of Greenwich and Kent County Council); and
  6. The Pioneer Network (Hope Community School is a school designated with a Christian religious character).
