New News Story

Welcome to Hope 2017/18

I trust you have had a good break for the summer.  It has been great to see the children after six weeks away.  A warm welcome to the Innovators and their parents, we are looking forward to working with you and welcoming you to our community.  I would like to formally welcome Mrs O'Hara, Michael and Jale to our teaching team, as well as Carol and Sarah to our Midday Supervisor team.

The trust had an excellent INSET on Monday and it was wonderful to meet our Southampton counterparts and we welcome them to the Hope Community.  Our Hope Community now involves 180 children across two schools.

To start the term off we are having a "British Values" day on Monday.  The children can wear red, white and blue clothes.  We will be thinking of the key British Values of the rule of law; individual liberty; mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.  The Adventurers will be visiting the Houses of Parliament on Friday, to start this work.  It is my aim that all KS1 and KS2 children visit Parliament this year.

We are holding "Meet the teacher" sessions over the next week for you to...meet the teacher and find out about the aims of this term.  The Discoverers session will be on the 12th September at 09.10.  The Explorers on the  13th September, the Adventurers on the 14th September.

Just a reminder the Adventurers and Pioneers start swimming on Thursday at Sidcup Leisure Centre - a letter will follow.

It is our aim to become paperless, hence more emails, less hard-copies of letters.  Our aim is to utilise our website more and so the weekly newsletter will be on this section of the website.  Please also use the calendar feature on the right hand side for forthcoming events.

Many thanks,

Mr. Irwin
